Background of the Idea Concept: Poultry and poultry products have a huge global demand and a great scope as a business venture but there are certain fronts on which poultry rearing is challenging. Poultry farms should be at ambient temperatures (65-75°F), have ideal relative humidity (60-80%) and should have good air quality, meaning less gaseous accumulation (gases include ammonia, methane, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide etc ). Poultry birds are reared in huge numbers and as such the high stocking density of these birds in the farms cause fluctuations in temperature, humidity and accumulation of harmful gases inside the farm house, which lead to decrease in production performances of the birds (like poor hatching ability, less survivability of birds, less egg production, contraction of multiple diseases due to lessening immunity etc ), thus, incurring huge economic losses, making poultry rearing challenging. Innovation/Solution Offering: MeSense We propose to make a device, called MeSense, an IoT based model for Smart Farm Monitoring. MeSense will continuously collect various environmental parameters in the farm using sensors (Temperature sensor, humidity sensor, Gas detection sensor etc.) to monitor surrounding weather conditions including temperature, humidity, climate quality, and also the filter fan switch control in the farm. The parameters collected will be sent to Arduino/Raspberry pi to give real time alerts/signals on the mobile application (developed alongwith the device) of the user/ farmer.
