I am going to introduce a portable water purification device DRINKLEAN which inlets contaminated water through one end and outlets clean drinking water anytime anywhere. We just need to fill the bottle with contaminated water and suck the water through a pipe on the lid. This water purification device can clean water up to 1000 liters and then the filtering cartridge can be changed. The purification system consists of 5 natural and a chemical chambers which cleans all the contaminants, bacteria and heavy metals found in pond, river, tap, lake, hand pump and stream water. Drinklean is a affordable and efficient water purification bottle costs less than 400 rupees. Materials used are BPA free silicone and organic filters which are easy to recycle and eco- friendly. The bottle has three different designs depends on its user. Simple Filtration First dirty water goes through filter mesh which removes the major turbidity from the water and then passes through a cotton mesh which removes more turbidity to improve the life of activated carbon. Activated Carbon chamber Water passing through an activated carbon filter, improves the taste of drinking water and also makes water safe to drink by removing most toxic organic compounds in water like pesticides, parasite and heavy metal organic compounds. Activated carbon removes smells in water and makes cloudy water clear by removing color causing compounds in the water. (Carbon is an extremely porous material that attracts and holds on its surface harmful chemicals by a process known as 'Adsorption'. Adsorption happens due to electrostatic forces of attraction known as 'Van der Waals forces' or ‘chemisorption’.) Activated Carbon Page | 8 IV. Chlorination chamber  After passing through activated carbon water passes thought a chlorine tablet which eliminate disease-causing microorganisms in water, pathogenic bacteria, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa’s.  (The treatment and distribution of water for safe use is one of the greatest achievements of the twentieth century.  Before cities began routinely treating drinking water with chlorine (starting with Chicago and Jersey City in 1908), cholera, typhoid fever, dysentery and hepatitis A killed thousands of U.S. residents annually.  Drinking water chlorination and filtration have helped to virtually eliminate these diseases in the U.S. and other developed countries.) Charcoal filter  Now this chlorine added water is passed through charcoal filter which removes all the chlorine, sediment, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), taste, and odor and from water. Charcoal Filter Page | 10 Green values, life cycle and sustainability  Filtration system of the bottle is completely organic and easily decomposable.  Bottle and the straw like structure which is holding all the filters are made of BPA free silicone which is very easy to recycle and more ocean-friendly.  When burned silicone reverts back into its harmless ingredients it does not releases any toxic material unlike plastic.  It makes water more potable without wasting a single drop of it.  Filtration system can purify up to 1000 liters of contaminated water.  It does not need any external source energy to use it.  After 1000 liters the filter shuts automatically to avoid the passage of water through the filtration system.  User can exchange the old cartridge with a new one and can fit it in to the old bottle.
