Development of VFD for sprinkler irrigation Sushmita M. Dadhich, R. K. Srivastava, Hemant Dadhich DST-WTI Project Division of Agricultural Engineering Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (J&K) The developed device is an attachment of the existing electrical irrigation pumps used for irrigation in agriculture sector. It can reduce the maintenance cost of the irrigation pump and increase the efficiency of the sprinkler irrigation system vis-a-vis saves water, energy and time. It fulfills its target rating 'value for money'. Initially, the possible interest of large-scale farmers and government agricultural farms, R&D institutions of government and private institutions working on water and energy saving technologies in agricultural sector. Private sector companies may start producing it as an attachment device with existing pumps for sprinkler irrigation system. Private sector companies/manufacturers of electric motors and pumps may start producing/ commercializing it as an attachment device with existing pumps for sprinkler irrigation system used in agricultural sector.
