• This project aims to build a CNC machine that will enable the artisans of the valley to manufacture the small woodcarving articles on a large scale in much less time and cost effectively. This can help the woodworking artisans of Kashmir Valley to improve their income by setting up an automated small scale small-wood-working articles units. The project does not aim to fully automate the complete handicraft domain of wooden articles in the valley; however, it aims to create a new product domain with the CNC machine to target the huge tourist market in the valley. The new product domain that this project aims to create include wood-carved keychains, wood-carved wall hangings and showpieces, customized wood-carved nameplates, wood-carved penholders etc.
