The Latch is designed in a way so that it looks good on the door and takes up less space. It consists of a geared 5 volt DC motor, the shaft of the motor has a spur gear attached to it. The latch uses a rack and pinion mechanism, the rack is made in such a way that the latch bolt and rack makes up a single piece thus reducing the size and space. This also gives the ability of controlling the latch manually. It also consists of a receiver motherboard that is attached to the motor and powered by battery. The receiver board receives the signal from a transmitter remote. The transmitter remote has two buttons to control the latch. This latch has been designed differently than the mechanical latches that are currently present in the market. This latch can be controlled with the help of a remote making it automatic, hence easy to use. It comes with a manual function too. Components used in this lock are less than that of the one’s present in the market which makes it more economical. As stated above this latch is remote controlled so the person using this lock will have to shut the door only and they can do their work and by using the device we made they can close or open the lock and the door will get unlocked or locked with ease and they can continue his work without moving here and there. Another advantage of the latch is that it can be controlled manually like a normal latch so no need to worry if the battery runs out.
